The Trust is delighted to offer mentors to encourage faithful and engaging expository preaching.
Mentoring can take place on a weekly or fortnightly basis and consists of the mentor listening to Sunday’s sermon and then meeting via Zoom to give feedback.
Feedback consists of highlighting the positives of the sermon and then mutual investigation of how the sermon might be improved.
Usually, there is time to look at the Bible passage for the next Sunday.
The two criteria that the mentor will encourage are faithfulness to the text and engagement with the congregation. The preacher is encouraged to be a person of two respects: the Word of God and the people of God.
Mentees are allocated to a mentor for a semester and then rotated to another mentor by mutual agreement.
The mentoring sessions are funded by the Expository Preaching Trust and are free to the mentee.
Mentors available: Graham Barnes,Jonathan Buesnell, David Burge, David Cook, Stuart Coulton, Michael Leung, Simon Manchester, Jim Mobbs and Jenny Salt.
Mentoring will begin in the week of Sunday, February 2, 2025.
